Oakdale has Witnessed Tremendous Growth in Recent Years
In the last few years, we have seen tremendous activity and strong signs of growth at Oakdale Christian Academy. With the help of many donors, volunteer workers, and prayer supporters, Oakdale has made many far-reaching steps forward. • The completion and dedication of the Beacon Center, a new classroom and gymnasium building. This facility, fully funded through the generosity of our friends and the dedicated service of many volunteer workers, reflects in its design and construction the quality that Oakdale intends of its educational program, boarding ministry, and operations.
• The construction of a $300,000 waste water treatment plant. In 2001, it became evident that the existing septic fields could not adequately serve the current campus residents and allow for a growing enrollment. By 2003 it was clear that a waste water treatment plant was the only adequate solution. In 2004 Oakdale received a grant to fund 75 percent of the cost of the sewage treatment plant. After planning and permitting were done, Oakdale was able to begin construction in the spring of 2006. This plant is now fully operational.
• An enrollment growth to 57 students, a record enrollment of boarding students and the highest overall enrollment in 30 years. Currently, students come from 15 states and nine foreign countries. Along with a challenging academic program that ensures success, students who attend Oakdale Christian Academy have the unique experiences of living with students from other cultures, races, and socio-economic backgrounds. Their world-view is expanded by this rich cross-cultural experience. • The addition of a new staff housing duplex. This project addressed the need for staff housing as well as allowed expanded space for student housing. This duplex was built for $95,000 – only $34 per square foot – thanks to many excellent work teams and donated materials. The 1,400 square foot apartments are modest in design, quality in construction, and much-appreciated by staff.
